Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Dean Lockhart has called on the Scottish Government and NHS Forth Valley to act immediately to address the A &E crisis at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Mr Lockhart says the latest A&E waiting time figures in NHS Forth Valley are deeply concerning, with only 46.9% seen within four hours of arriving at A&E.
That was only slightly better than the previous week at A&E at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
The SNP’s target for 95 per cent of patients to be seen within four hours has not been met in Scotland since July 2020.
Dean Lockhart said:
‘’The latest figures make for shocking reading as NHS Forth Valley is by far the worst performing in the country.
‘’The staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital are beyond breaking point now and desperately need to ensure that this unacceptable situation is addressed- now.
‘’I think we would welcome a statement from senior management at the health board explaining what is being done, and why people across the region are having to put up with waiting the longest in the country to be seen.
‘’It is the patients are paying the price for poor leadership- especially on the part of the Scottish Government- and something has to be done.’’
