Fife MSP and Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Economy Dean Lockhart today met with Area Manager Heather Tytler and Team Leader Gavin Rennie at Skills Development Scotland in Kirkcaldy.

During the meeting, Dean was informed about the work Skills Development Scotland are doing to support individuals with career management, employability skills and future learning opportunities in Kirkcaldy and Mid-Fife.

During his visit, Mr Lockhart was keen to understand the role the centre plays in the delivery of foundation apprenticeships.

Dean Lockhart MSP said:

''It was a pleasure to visit Skills Development Scotland in Kirkcaldy this afternoon and learn a bit more about the services on offer to individuals seeking career guidance and employability skills.

''It was particularly interesting to hear about the work the centre does to promote foundation and graduate apprenticeships and it was interesting to hear the staff's experiences of the barriers which young people face in entering the workforce.

''I also had the chance to chat to the staff about the work they do in re-skilling the workforce following the changing nature of work.''
