Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Dean Lockhart has welcomed funding from UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak to re-open Callander Visitor Information Centre.
Over £100,000 has been awarded as part of the UK Government’s Community Ownership fund in today’s budget, which was established to empower local communities to own and manage their most treasured local community assets.
The Visitor Information Centre will be run by volunteers and self-sustained through retail sales.
The project is designed to help reinvigorate the town’s high street and to support local tourism and the wider regeneration of the area.
Scottish Conservative MSP for the Mid-Scotland and Fife region, Dean Lockhart, said:
“This is a fantastic investment in a project that will make a real difference to the local area.
“This project will encourage tourism in and around Callander and help revitalise our high street. This is exactly the kind of investment the area needs to boost the local economy, after the pandemic.
“Today’s funding from Rishi Sunak and the UK Government shows the support and security our local communities gain from being part of a strong United Kingdom.”
