Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Dean Lockhart has praised the efforts of St Ninians Community Council, in securing the installation of a defibrillator device at the toll shopping precinct.
Across Scotland, there are over 3,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every single year and it is proven that in these cases access to a defibrillator is often the difference between life and death.
Dean Lockhart MSP said:
‘’I would like to congratulate all of those on the community council who have worked hard to secure the necessary funding and location to enable members of the public to access and use the device easily.
‘’Access to a defibrillator has a huge impact in increasing the chances of survival from those suffering a cardiac arrest so this device in St Ninians may well save somebody’s life in the future.
‘’I have submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament, which has already gathered support from MSP colleagues, congratulating those involved- and I look forward to hearing about the benefit the device will bring to local people into the future’’
