On Saturday 30th June, Dean attended this year’s events marking Armed Forces Day held in Kings Park, Stirling.
The annual event is a celebration of the history and proud record of the armed forces and their association and interaction with the city of Stirling.
It also allows the people of Stirling, and the wider area, to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution of those who serve, and have served, in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces, and the role they play within our society.
Dean took the opportunity to chat to many sections of the armed services who were represented at the show, along with the many charities who provide vital support to our armed personnel.
Dean Lockhart MSP said:
‘’Armed Forces Day is an important opportunity for communities across Scotland and the UK to recognise the outstanding contribution of our armed services in selflessly protecting our country.
‘’Our first-rate service personnel put themselves in danger around the world to protect the UK’s interests and provide vital humanitarian assistance to others on a day to day basis.
‘’This annual event is a fitting way to pay tribute to them for all that they do for us.
‘’It was particularly pleasing to celebrate this day again in Stirling.
‘’Many families in Stirling have a strong affinity with the UK’s Armed Forces, and the city has a strong connection with regiments such as the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
‘’Armed Forces Day provides them, and communities across the UK, with a chance to acknowledge and honour the contribution of those who are currently serving, as well as those who have served in the past.’’
