Mid-Scotland and Fife MSP Dean Lockhart has hosted a ‘drop-in’ session in the Scottish Parliament for MSPs and their staff to hear more about Scotland’s Railway.
Dean Lockhart MSP was joined by Alex Hynes, Managing Director of Scotland’s Railway and other members of the senior leadership teams of both Network Rail Scotland, ScotRail and Abellio at the event held on Tuesday 10th March.
Last year, it was announced that Abellio is to be stripped of its ScotRail franchise in 2022, three years early following concerns about overcrowding, delays, cancellations and rising ticket prices.
In Fife, commuters are frequently frustrated about stop skipping, delays and overcrowding on particular routes linking Fife with Edinburgh and rail commuters between Dunblane and Edinburgh have blasted the service following reports from frequent passengers on Scotrail services to and from the capital who told of regularly overcrowded services, delays and cancellations on a daily basis.
Dean Lockhart MSP said:
‘’I was pleased to host senior figures from Scotland’s Railway at the Scottish Parliament.
‘’As a local MSP representing Mid-Scotland and Fife, my office is inundated with complaints from constituents regarding the state of our railways and it was good to have the opportunity for myself and other MSPs to pass on these concerns to senior representatives.’’
